~Ravenquill Press Book Club~

Hello, dear reader! This post is your invitation to join our book club! It will be held on Goodreads, but we will also be posting discussion/study questions here on the blog. We're planning on discussing literary themes, as well as historical and philosophical details and much more.

Our first selection, chosen by our Instagram followers, is Louisa May Alcott's 'Little Women', a classic piece of American literature. Beloved by children and adults alike, this book contains themes that transcend era or culture as it looks at family life, growing up, relationships and so much more.

Some things you can expect to explore are the historical context of the book, the ideology and philosophies in which the story is rooted, & the roles both Christian faith and feminism play in the narrative and in the author's perspective.

If this sounds a little daunting- it won't be! We're going to have fun and get to know the characters- and each other- while we learn together. There will be activities as well- maybe even some contests. Nina DeRespino, one of the founders of Ravenquill, will be leading the discussion, but this is intended to be an interactive group where everyone is challenged to think and discover new ideas from and with each other.
